Let’s Talk from Dirt to Development

A few years ago, I had the idea of developing a flex building. I wanted to understand the process from start to finish as an additional tool to add value for my clients.

What better way to learn than to go through the process yourself?

Here’s the top 5 things I would advise to any first time developer

1) Know Your Market
Know what users need in terms of size and type of building and what amenities users are looking for in a building.
2) Location
Understand how pro-growth an area is for new developments. Talk to someone who has recently developed in the area and ask about their experience going through the approval process
3)Choose the Right Team
The right contractor, engineer, broker etc can really make all the difference. Choose wisely!
4)Time and Money
A development project will most likely take more time and money than you anticipated, so be ready for those obstacles.
5) Be Patient
Development is a slow process. Stay patient but proactive. Wake up every morning and find ONE thing you can do to move the project forward.
